Men's Basketball Falls to Ephs in Championship Game of Williams Invitational

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Maine Maritime Academy men's basketball fell to Williams College on Saturday afternoon, 73-55 in the championship game of the Williams Tip-Off Tournament.

Nick Judge (Cushing, Maine) led the Mariners with 14 points, six rebounds, and two assists, Brendan Newcomb (Holden, Maine) added 12 points, three rebounds, and two assists and Dylan Stevens (Wells, Maine) chipped in with 10 points, six rebounds, and a block.

Daniel Aronowitz led Williams College with 22 points, four rebounds, two assists, a steal, and a block, Marcos Soto added 15 points, three rebounds and a block off the bench and Kyle Scadlock tallied 12 points, a game-high eight rebounds, a block, a steal and an assist.

The Ephs jumped out to a 5-0 lead early in the first half, and outscored the Mariners 33-18 over the first twenty minutes to take a 15-point lead into the intermission.

The Mariners continued to fight, outscoring Williams 10-2 early in the second half to close the gap to 44-32 but the Ephs went on to build their largest lead (68-46) of the game with 4:24 remaining in the game and hung on for the win.

Maine Maritime falls to 1-2 overall, while Williams improves to 2-0 overall. The Mariners travel to Thomas College on Tuesday, November 29 for their North Atlantic Conference opener at 5:30 pm.
