DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Maine Maritime Academy women's basketball fell to Brooklyn College, 67-47 on Thursday afternoon at the Land of Magic Classic.

The Bulldogs held a 25-10 advantage entering halftime, but the Mariners went on a 6-2 run to close the gap to nine points with 6:41 to play in the third quarter. Brooklyn College narrowly outscored the Mariners 20-19 in the third quarter and 22-18 in the final quarter to hang on for the victory.

Alayne Felix (Mahopac, N.Y.) scored a game-high 25 points to lead the Mariners, while also pulling down a game-high eight rebounds. Felix also tallied two steals and an assist, while teammates Hannah Philippon (Glenburn, Maine) and Chloe Smedley (York, Maine) chipped in with five points each, and Kristi Willey (Topsham, Maine) recorded seven rebounds to go with two points, two steals, and a block.

Alexandra Moogan led Brooklyn College with 19 points, three rebounds, an assist and a steal, Olivia Colbert tallied 12 points, four rebounds, and a steal and Kailyn Richburg added 11 points, four steals, three rebounds, and three assists.

The Mariners fall to 4-6 overall and will return to action on Saturday, January 7, when they hit the road to take on Husson University in a 3:00 p.m. North Atlantic Conference matchup. The Bulldogs improve to 6-2 overall.
