Box Score POULTNEY, Vt. – Tyler Thayer (Hermon, Maine) scored a game-high 26 points, as Maine Maritime Academy men's basketball fell to Green Mountain College, 95-63 in North Atlantic Conference action on Saturday afternoon.
A Thayer three-pointer tied things up at 11-11 at 16:27 in the first half, but the Eagles responded with eight-unanswered points to build a 19-11 lead and took a 43-34 advantage into the halftime.
The Eagles never relinquished their lead and held on for the victory, led by 23 points from Mychal Parker. Parker added nine rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block. Cameron Anderson added 19 points, five rebounds, two assists and a block and Sampson Dale scored 14 points, pulled down six rebounds, dished out two assists and tallied two blocks. Javier Lugris and Thomas Brown added 11 points and 10 points respectively to round out the Green Mountain players in double digits.
Thayer added seven rebounds, three steals and two assists, while Dylan Price (Madison, Maine) tallied nine points, four rebounds and an assist and Brendan Newcomb (Holden, Maine) contributed eight points, three rebounds and a steal.
The Mariners fall to 4-19 on the season and 3-13 in conference play, while the Eagles improve to 19-4 overall and 14-2 against NAC opponents. Maine Maritime will host Maine-Farmington on Wednesday for Senior Recognition Night at 7:30 p.m., in their final home game of the regular season.
