Box Score CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy volleyball picked up a commanding 3-0 (25-13, 25-8, 25-11) win over Husson University on Tuesday night in non-conference action inside of Smith Gym.
The reigning North Atlantic Conference Player of the Week, Tess Clark (Spring, Texas) finished just shy of a double-double with 10 digs, nine kills, and an ace. Sydney Adams (Trumbull, Conn.), the reigning NAC Rookie of the Week, tallied 13 assists, nine kills, four digs, two blocks and two aces, while Gillian O'Neal (Burbank, Calif.) tallied nine kills, four digs and an ace and the reigning NAC Defensive Player of the Week Maria Perez (San Juan, Puerto Rico) led all players with 17 digs while adding two assists.
Hannah Butland (Cumberland, Maine) tallied a match-high five aces while also chipping in with an assist and Alexa Cacacie (Manahawkin, N.J.) added six kills, five blocks and an assist. Melissa Spaulding (Fairbanks, Alaska) led all players with a match-high 15 assists and added seven digs and two aces.
Marissa Tautimer led the Eagles with a team-high 12 digs and an assist, while teammate Mary Grace Power recorded a team-high four kills and Hanna Hembrow added six digs, four assists, and two kills.
The Mariners improve to 4-2 on the season and will travel to Massachusetts on Friday to take on Emmanuel College, before beginning competition in the Seventh Annual Maritime Classic hosted by Massachusetts Maritime on Saturday and Sunday. The Eagles fall to 5-5 overall and will return to action on Friday against Maine-Fort Kent and Maine-Presque Isle.
