Bobcats Overpower Mariners

LEWISTON, Maine -- Maine Maritime Academy women's soccer fell to Bates College on Tuesday night, 2-0, in non-conference action on Garcelon Field.

The Bobcats broke the scoreless match in the 54th minute when Olivia Amdur scored her first goal of the season on a loose ball that she snuck in high over Mariner keeper Maggie McConkey (Fryeburg, Maine). Bates found the back of the net again in the 77th minute when Allison Hill found teammate Riley Turcotte for a score.

The Mariners tallied all five of their shots in the second half, led by two shots from Eryn Doiron (Wilton, Maine).

McConkey finished the evening with five saves, while Sarah McCarthy earned the win in net for the Bobcats with one save.

Maine Maritime falls to 1-1-1 on the season and will return to action on Saturday, September 10 at Maine-Presque Isle at 12:30 p.m., in a non-conference matchup. The Bobcats improve to 1-0 and will host Hamilton College on Saturday.
