Goud Leads Mariners at State of Maine Championship

BRUNSWICK, Maine – Freshman Brandon Goud (Wiscasset, Maine) placed 53rd overall out of 152 runners at Saturday's State of Maine Championship hosted by Bowdoin College, leading the Mariners to seventh place out of 12 teams.

Goud completed the 8k course with a time of 29:02.0 and was followed closely by teammates Cole Brundige (Bainbridge Island, Wash.) in 58th and Aylen Wolf (Surry, Maine) in 59th. Alex Wicks (Woolwich, Maine) placed 84th and Keenan Martin (Dixfield, Maine) finished in 89th to round out the top-five finishers for the Mariners.

Bates College claimed the team victory, placing five runners in the top 10, while Bowdoin took second led by Ben Torda who placed first overall with a time of 25:25.3. 

The Mariners return to action in two weeks at the North Atlantic Conference Championships hosted by UMaine-Farmington. The men's race begins at 11:00 am.
