James Leads Mariners at NCAA Regionals

GORHAM, Maine -- Junior Sierra James (Campton, N.H.) placed 314th out of 393 runners to lead Maine Maritime Academy women's cross country at the NCAA Division III New England Regional Championships on Saturday hosted by the University of Southern Maine at the Gorham Country Club.

The Mariners placed 54th out of the 56 teams. James completed the 6K course in a time of 26:42.6 to lead the Mariners, while teammate Alex Allen (Easton, Maine) placed 339th with a time of 28:20.0. Abigail L'Abbé (Topsham, Maine) and Julia Dillon (Norway, Maine) finished back-to-back in 355th and 356th place, and Olivia Smith (Skowhegan, Maine) rounded out the top five finishers for Maine Maritime in 362nd place.

MIT took the team victory with a score of 58 and Coast Guard's Kaitlyn Mooney finished first overall with a time of 20:22.6.
