Maine Maritime Dominates Husson in 3-0 Victory

BANGOR, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy volleyball cruised to a 3-0 victory over Husson University in non-conference action at Newman Gymnasium on Wednesday night. 

The Mariners took the first set 25-14 and never looked back, picking up a 25-15 victory in set two and a 25-11 win in the final set to defeat Husson for the 10th straight time.

Freshman Jessica D'Auria (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) led the Mariners with 13 kills and four digs, sophomore Alexa Cacacie (Manahawkin, N.J.) tallied nine kills, two digs, two aces and a block and sophomore Maria Perez (San Juan, Puerto Rico) added a match-high 24 digs to go along with an assist. Sophomore Sydney Adams (Trumbull, Conn.) tallied a match-leading 33 assists, including her 1,000th career assist. Adams becomes one of only four Maine Maritime volleyball players to achieve that milestone.

Mary Grace Power led Husson with five kills while also adding two digs and an assist, Delany Chisholm added a team-best 10 digs and Hanna Hembrow added 10 assists along with seven digs, two aces and a kill.

The Mariners improve to 4-5 overall, while the Eagles fall to 7-3 on the season. Maine Maritime returns to action at home on Saturday at 4:00 pm in the opening match of the Eight Annual Maritime Classic against SUNY Maritime.
