Box Score CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy women's soccer fell to Wheaton College 1-0, on Sunday afternoon in non-conference action at Ritchie Field.
The Lyons struck early, when Kate Hopkins' corner kick hit off a Mariner defender and into net in the fifth minute to make it 1-0 in favor of the visitors.
The Mariners held the Lyons for the remainder of the game but were unable to find the back of the net.
Maine Maritime's Emily Conway (Charleston, S.C.) was impressive in net, stopping seven shots in the loss, while Alexa Barbagallo tallied one save in the victory for Wheaton.
The Mariners fall to 2-7 overall, while the Lyons improve to 5-1-1 on the season. Maine Maritime returns to action on Thursday night when they travel to Bowdoin College at 4:00 pm for a non-conference game.
