Box Score CASTINE, Maine – Thomas College scored in the 74th minute to defeat Maine Maritime Academy women's soccer 1-0, on Tuesday evening in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action at Ritchie Field.
The Mariners conclude the regular season at 11-3-1 and fall to 6-1 in the conference, claiming the second seed in the NAC Tournament, while the Terriers finish the year 10-4-1 overall and 6-0-1 in the NAC to clinch the top seed. Both teams will receive a bye for the first round of the playoffs and await their semifinal matchups.
Maine Maritime applied consistent pressure on the Terrier net in the first half, outshooting the visitors 7-1, but the Terriers fought back in the second half and Katherine Hoving tallied her 27th goal of the season to lead Thomas to the victory.
Emily Conway (Charleston, S.C.) collected two saves in the loss for Maine Maritime, while Thomas' Kayla Gordon stopped three shots in the victory.
The Mariners maintained an 11-6 advantage in shots, led by four shots from Margot Simeon (Findlay, Ohio) and took nine corner kicks compared to the Terriers two.
