Mariners Sink Eagles

BANGOR, Maine – Eryn Doiron (Wilton, Maine) scored in the ninth minute to lead Maine Maritime Academy women's soccer to a 1-0 victory over Husson University in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action at Boucher Field on Saturday.

With the victory the Mariners improve to 8-2 overall, securing their seventh shutout of the season, and 4-0 in conference play, while the Eagles fall to 2-9 on the season and 2-2 in NAC play. The Mariners return to action on Monday, October 8 when they host UMaine-Fort Kent at 12:30 pm for a non-conference matchup.

Doiron, tallied her 12th goal of the season to lead the Mariners to the victory, tallying the unassisted strike at 8:06 in the first half.

Emily Conway (Charleston, S.C.) was impressive in net, stopping all seven shots she faced to earn the victory, while Husson's Sami Ireland tallied six saves in the loss.

The Mariners held a 12-10 edge in shots, while also holding a 4-0 advantage in corner kicks.
