Mariners Rout Wildcats, 83-26

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – Maine Maritime Academy women's basketball cruised to a dominating 83-26 victory over Bay Path University on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action at the Raptors Tip-Off Tournament hosted by Bard College.

How it Happened: The Mariners outscored Bay Path 21-9 in the first quarter and held the Wildcats to just two points in the second quarter, cruising to the victory.

Inside the Numbers: Alayne Felix (Mahopac, N.Y.) and Melinda Ogden (Searsport, Maine) led the Mariners with 14 points each. Felix pulled down four rebounds, tallied three steals and dished out a pair of assists, while Ogden added an assist. Deirdre Sanborn (Standish, Maine) added eight points, four steals and a rebound and Gabby DePatsy (Waldoboro, Maine) tallied a team-high seven rebounds to go along with two points and a block.

Haleigh Bassett led Bay Path with a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds, and also added two steals and an assist.

The Mariners shot 41.8 percent from the floor while the Wildcats shot 21.2 percent. Maine Maritime held a 44-33 advantage in rebounds.

Up Next: With the win the Mariners improve to 3-0 on the season, while the Wildcats fall to 1-2 overall. Maine Maritime returns to action tomorrow, Sunday, November 18, against Bard College at 12:00 pm.
