Mariners Outlast Hornets

LYNDONVILLE, Vt. – Maine Maritime Academy women's basketball defeated NVU-Lyndon 55-45 on Saturday afternoon in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action inside of Stannard Gymnasium.

How it Happened: Despite facing a 29-26 deficit at halftime, the Mariners held the Hornets to single-digits in the last two quarters to claim the victory.

Inside the Numbers: Alayne Felix (Mahopac, N.Y.) led Maine Maritime with a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds and also contributed four assists, two steals and a block.

Megan McLean (Eliot, Maine) tallied 11 points, eight rebounds and three assists, and Lauren Plissey (Hermon, Maine) pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds, and added three points, two assists and a pair of steals.

Ellie Harrington led the Hornets with 10 points, one rebound, and an assist while Rylee Moore added nine points and three rebounds.

The Mariners shot 27.0 percent from the floor, while the Hornets shot 29.6 percent. Maine Maritime held a commanding 61-25 edge in rebounds.

Up Next: The Mariners improve to 6-0 overall and 2-0 in the NAC, while the Hornets drop to 2-4 on the season and 0-2 in conference play. Maine Maritime returns to action on Tuesday, December 4 at Saint Joseph's College of Maine at 5:30 pm.
