Mariners Down Eagles

BANGOR, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy volleyball defeated Husson University 3-0 (25-13, 25-12, 25-13) on Wednesday night in non-conference action at Newman Gymnasium.

With the win the Mariners improve to 10-5 overall, while the Eagles drop to 1-9 on the season. Maine Maritime returns to action next Tuesday, October 2 when they host UMaine-Machias at 7:00 pm.

Reigning North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Rookie of the Week, Rachel Melampy (Duxbury, Mass.) led the Mariners with a match-high 11 kills, seven digs and a block, while reigning NAC Defensive Player of the Week, Maria Perez (San Juan, Puerto Rico) led all players with 13 digs, and also added two assists. Sydney Adams (Trumbull, Conn.) recorded a match-high 25 assists to go along with six digs, four kills, and an ace and Alexa Cacacie (Manahawkin, N.J.) contributed nine kills while hitting .692 percent, three aces, two digs and an assist.

Sophia Pagliarini led the Eagles with three kills, Hanna Hembrow chipped in with a team-high 10 assists, and Adrienne Beatty led Husson with seven digs.
