Box Score CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy men's basketball fell to Bowdoin College 84-63, on Monday night in non-conference action inside of Smith Gymnasium.
How it Happened: The two teams exchanged the lead early on, until the Polar Bears used a 10-point run to take a 15-8 lead at 11:15. The Mariners fought back and retook a the lead, 24-23, following a three-pointer from Nicholas DePatsy (Waldoboro, Maine) at 5:16. DePatsy hit another three with 54 seconds to play in the first half to tie the game at 33-33, but the Polar Bears scored four-straight to take a narrow 37-33 edge into halftime.
The Mariners remained within striking distance in the second half, until Bowdoin orchestrated a 14-point run to take a 75-58 lead at 2:33 and held the Mariners to just five points in the remaining time, to secure the victory.
Inside the Numbers: DePatsy led the Mariners with 18 points, three rebounds, and two assists.
Riley Jorgenson (Vienna., Va.) added 14 points, a team-high six rebounds, four assists and a block, Kimani Anderson (Houston, Texas) contributed 13 points, five rebounds, two assists, a steal and a block and Riley MacLeod (Bucksport, Maine) added a game-high seven assists, to go along with eight points, five rebounds, a steal, and a block.
David Reynolds led Bowdoin with 21 points, five rebounds, and two assists while teammate Jack Simonds tallied a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds and also added three assists, a steal and a block.
Zavier Rucker had 11 points, five rebounds, two assists and a steal and Hugh O'Neil added 10 points, seven rebounds, three assists, three steals and a block.
The Mariners shot 40.7 percent from the floor and 50.0 percent from three-point land, while the Polar Bears shot 56.9 percent from the floor and 41.2 percent from behind the arc. Bowdoin held a 36-24 advantage in rebounds.
