Doiron Has Record Day in Win Over Hornets

CASTINE, Maine – Eryn Doiron (Wilton, Maine) scored four goals and tallied an assist to become the Maine Maritime Academy women's soccer all-time leader in goals (50) and set new single-season records in goals (19) and points (41) as the Mariners defeated Northern Vermont University-Lyndon, 6-0 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action on Sunday afternoon at Ritchie Field.

With the win the Mariners improve to 9-2 overall and 6-0 in conference, while Lyndon falls to 1-10 overall and 1-5 in conference. The Mariners return to action on Saturday, October 19, when they travel to take on Bowdoin College in a non-conference matchup scheduled for 12:30 pm.

Doiron got the scoring started for the Mariners as she beat Lyndon's Lauren Young in the 11th minute to give the Mariners a 1-0 lead. Less than a minute later Doiron found Kelsea Anair (Richmond, Maine) to give the Mariners a 2-0 lead. Doiron scored her second goal of the game in the 25th minute, as she finished off a feed from Lilah Chaar (Stockton Springs, Maine) to extend the first half lead to 3-0. Doiron completed her first-half hat-trick only minutes later as she buried a cross by Jillian Holden (Madison, Maine) in the 27th minute to make the lead 4-0. The Mariners outshot the Hornets 14-2 in the first half.

Gabbie Guinto (Hampstead, N.H.) continued the scoring for the Mariners early in the second half as she finished a cross from Kelsey Bern (Castle Rock, Wash.) to push the lead to 5-0. Doiron scored her fourth goal of the game in the 63rd minute when she finished a Margot Simeon (Findlay, Ohio) cross to score her 50th career goal making it 6-0.

Bess MacArthur (Castine, Maine) stopped all three shots she saw in the win for the Mariners, while Young made nine saves in the loss for Lyndon.
