Aces Lead Mariners Over Clippers

CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy volleyball combined for 28 aces and hit a season-high .457 percent to capture a dominating 3-0 (25-1, 25-12, 25-6) victory over UMaine-Machias on Wednesday night in non-conference action inside of Smith Gymnasium.

With the win the Mariners improve to 10-3 overall, while the Clippers fall to 1-12 on the season. Maine Maritime returns to action on Friday night when they host UMaine-Fort Kent for a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 5:00 pm.

Alexa Cacacie (Manahawkin, N.J.) led the Mariners with nine kills and also contributed an ace and a block, teammate Jessica D'Auria (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) tallied a match-high eight aces to go along with five kills and Sydney Adams (Trumbull, Conn.) led all players with 22 assists and three digs, while also adding four aces and three kills. Avery O'Neal (Burbank, Calif.) chipped in with seven aces and Briana Mays (Bradenton, Fla.) tallied six kills.

Teeya Harmon led the Clippers with three digs, one kill and one ace.
