BANGOR, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy swimming opened up their season against Husson University on Friday evening at Webber Pool.
The men's team defeated the Eagles 139-99, while the women fell 153-60.
Men's Meet Highlights:
- The Mariners took the top three spots in the 200 yard free, with Patrick McEneaney (Suffolf, Va.) placing first (2:04.46), Joshua Roberts (Saco, Maine) in second (2:04.78), and Jack Valleau (Liberty, Maine) in third (2:05.96).
- Brad Tibbetts (Boothbay Harbor, Maine) took first place in the 50 yard back (29.20), while John Egger (Marion, Mass.) took second (29.76).
- Isaac Weaver (Lamoine, Maine) took home first place in the 50 yard breast (30.35).
- Valleau took home first in the 50 yard free (24.44), while Grayson Blocker (Blairsville, Ga.) placed second (24.64).
- Roberts placed first in the 100 yard back (1:04.78) and Weaver finished second (1:07.76).
- John Markillie (Richland, Wash.) won the 500 yard free (5:39.76) and McEneaney placed second (5:48.75).
- Relay team of Edward David (Englewood, Fla.), Tibbetts, Blocker and McEneaney placed first in the 200 yard freestyle relay (1:38.64).
Women's Meet Highlights:
- Milo Cook-Sharp (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) set a new school record winning the 500 yard free (6:15.04).
- Tamra Miller (South Thomaston, Maine) took home first place in the 50 yard butterfly (33.76).
- Miller placed second in the 50 yard breast (41.23).
- Cook-Sharp placed second in the 100 yard butterfly (1:14.99).
- Kaitlyn Reny (Lewiston, Maine) placed third in the 100 yard breast (1:28.66).
- Reny placed third in the 100 yard IM (1:17.15).
- Relay team of Avery Nelson (Dover-Foxcroft, Maine), Amber Durant (Mansfield, Mass.), Brooke Foley (Mystic, Conn.) and Ashlyn Royal (Bucksport, Maine) placed second in the 200 yard free relay (2:19.65).
- Cook-Sharp set a new school record in the 200 yard free (2:22.71), and in the 100 yard butterfly (1:14.99)
- Miller set a new school record in the 100 yard back (1:13.20).
The Mariners return to action on Sunday, November 2, at the Louis Goodrum Invitational, hosted by UMass-Dartmouth at 12:00 PM.
