Holden's Early Goal Elevates Women's Soccer Over Owls

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – Jillian Holden (Madison, Maine) scored in the 16th minute to lead Maine Maritime Academy women's soccer to a 1-0 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) win over UMaine-Presque Isle on Saturday afternoon at Park Family Field.

With their eighth shutout victory of the season, the Mariners improve to 10-4-0 overall and 7-0-0 in the NAC, while the Owls dip to 7-5-2 on the season and 2-4-1 in conference play. Maine Maritime wraps up regular season play on Tuesday night when they travel to Thomas College for a 7:30 pm NAC matchup.

Holden picked up her first goal of the season on a pass from teammate Kelsea Anair (Richmond, Maine) to give the Mariners an early advantage and the eventual victory.

Emily Conway (Charleston, S.C.) earned the win in net for the Mariners, collecting one save, while Presque Isle's Savannah Rodriguez tallied eight saves in the loss.

The Mariners outshot the Owls 15-3.
