Mariners Sail Past Colby

CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy volleyball sailed to a 3-0 (25-16, 25-13, 25-17) victory over Colby College in non-conference action inside of Smith Gymnasium on Tuesday night.

With the win the Mariners improve to 20-3 overall, while the Mules drop to 9-17 on the season. Maine Maritime returns to action on Saturday when they travel to Husson to wrap up the regular season facing UMaine-Presque Isle and UMaine-Fort Kent beginning at 3:00 pm.

Rachel Melampy (Marshfield, Mass.) led the Mariners with match-high 13 kills and also added six digs, Jessica D'Auria (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) added 10 kills, five digs and two aces, and both Avery O'Neal (Burbank, Calif.) and Maria Perez (San Juan, Puerto Rico) tallied 14 digs. O'Neal chipped in with five kills and five assists, and Perez added three assists and an ace, while Sydney Adams (Trumbull, Conn.) tallied a match-high 34 assists to go with five kills, four digs, two blocks and an ace.

Samantha Schultz led the Mules with five kills, five digs, and an assist, while Nicole Petherbridge contributed a team-best eight digs to go with three kills, an assist and an ace, and Morgan Selby led the team with eight assists, while also chipping in with four digs, and a kill.
