BRUNSWICK, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy men's swimming battled at the Maine State Meet hosted by Bowdoin College on Friday and Saturday.
The Mariners placed fifth out of six teams, claiming 50 points, ahead of Saint Joseph's College of Maine.
Colby College claimed the victory with 1096.83 points, while Bates College in second (1024), and Bowdoin College in third (747.66).
Meet Results:
- John Markillie (Richland, Wash.) placed 22nd in the 500 yard frees with a time of 5:24.04.
- Isaac Weaver (Lamoine, Maine) placed 12th in the 50 yard breast with a time of 29.07, setting a new school record, while Brad Tibbetts (Boothbay Harbor, Maine) placed 17th with a time of 31.94.
- Tibbetts finished 23rd in the 50 yard back with a time of 28.85, while John Gilpin (Portsmouth, R.I.) placed 25th with a time of 29.71.
- Valleau finished 21st in the 50 yard free with a time of 23.20.
- Markillie placed 20th in the 400 yard IM, setting a new school record, with a time of 4:42.11, while John Egger (Marion, Mass.) finished 22nd with a time of 4:52.92.
- Weaver finished 19th in the 100 yard breast with a time of 1:05.46, setting a new school record.
- Markillie finished 9th overall in the 1650 free with a time of 18:20.43, while Patrick McEneaney (Suffolk, Va.) finished 10th with a time of 18:40.32.
- Roberts placed 22nd in the 200 yard back with a time of 2:15.06.
- Weaver finished 15th in the 200 yard breast with a time of 2:32.16.
- Egger placed 21st in the 200 yard fly, setting a new school record, with a time of 2:15.82, while Roberts finished 22nd with a time of 2:18.85.
- Markillie finished 22nd in the 500 yard free with a time of 5:24.04.
Maine Maritime with return to action on Saturday, January 18, when they host Norwich University at 2:00 pm in a Dual Meet in Cary W. Bok Swimming Pool on the campus of Maine Maritime Academy.
