CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy swimming hosted Husson University on Tuesday night in Bok pool. In the non-scoring meet several Mariners improved times to qualify for the NEISDA Championships.
Prior to the start of the meet the Mariners honored three seniors, women's swimmer Hannah Butland (Cumberland, Maine) and men's swimmers Ryan Burke (Lyman, Maine), and Brad Tibbetts (Boothbay Harbor, Maine)
Men's Highlights:
• In the 200 yard breast, John Egger (Marion, Mass.) swam a 2:33.17, while Joshua Roberts (Saco, Maine) swam a 2:33.55, and Liam Naturale (Dingman's Ferry, Pa.) finished with a 2:37.08 to all qualify
• Egger finished with 1:02.34 in the 100 yard IM, while Jack Valleau (Liberty, Maine) finished with a 1:02.81, and Naturale with a 1:06.46 to all qualify
• Edward David (Englewood, Fla.) qualified for the 50 yard breast with a time of 33.21
Women's Highlights:
• Tamra Miller (South Thomaston, Maine) swam a 31.81 to qualify for the 50 yard back
• Miller finshed with a time of 1:12.32 in the 100 yard IM to qualify
• Butland qualified for the 50 yard butterfly with a time of 29.76
The qualifying Mariners will travel to the University of Rhode Island to compete in the NEISDA Championships on the weekend of February 13-16.
