Box Score CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy men's basketball fell to #17 Colby College 79-57 on Friday afternoon in non-conference action inside of Smith Gymnasium.
How it Happened: The two teams battled closely in the opening minutes and a layup by Maine Maritime's Andrew Liebert (Plano, Texas) tied things at 17-17 with 16:30 to play, but the Mules orchestrated a 12-point run to make it 29-17 at 8:28 and maintained a double-figure lead for most of the half to take a 52-37 lead into intermission.
The Mariners held the Mules, who entered the contest averaging 96.9 points per game, to just 27 points in the second half, but Colby hung on for the victory. Maine Maritime held the Mules to 79 total points, the lowest across Colby's 10 games this season.
Inside the Numbers: Liebert led Maine Maritime with 15 points, five rebounds, two assists and a block, while Nicholas DePatsy (Waldoboro, Maine) added 12 points, three rebounds and two assists and Kimani Anderson (Houston, Texas) contributed 11 points, two rebounds, two steals and an assist.
Sam Jefferson led the Mules with 23 points, two rebounds, two steals and an assist and Matt Hanna chipped in with 18 points, three rebounds and an assist.
The Mariners shot 34.5 percent from the floor and 15.8 percent from beyond the arc, while the Mules shot 46.3 percent overall and 38.9 percent from three-point land. Colby held a 42-33 advantage in rebounds.
