Second-Half Surge Lifts Beavers Over Mariners

FARMINGTON, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy men's basketball fell to UMaine-Farmington 87-70 on Saturday afternoon in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action inside of Dearborn Gymnasium.

How it Happened: The Mariners led 10-3 early in the first half, but the Beavers fought back and carried a 46-43 lead into halftime following a closely contested 20 minutes.

The Beavers used an eight-point run to open up the second half on their way to the 87-70 victory.

Inside the Numbers: Andrew Liebert (Plano, Texas) led the Mariners with 19 points, a rebound and a steal, while Nicholas DePatsy (Waldoboro, Maine) and Malachi Reincke (Houston, Texas) tallied 12 points each. DePatsy chipped in with three rebounds, two assists and a steal and Reincke contributed a rebound, an assist and a block while Kimani Anderson (Houston, Texas) recorded 10 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Terion Moss led the Beavers with 19 points, three rebounds and two assists, Issac Witham added 15 points, three rebounds, two assists and a steal and Amir Moss contributed 12 points and a steal. Riley Robinson, Jack Kane and Anthony Owens each added 10 points, while Bill Ruby led the Beavers with 10 rebounds.

The Mariners shot 54.9 percent from the floor and 44.4 percent from three, while the Beavers shot 53.1 percent overall and 41.7 percent from beyond the arc. The Beavers held a 38-19 advantage in rebounds.

Up Next: The Mariners fall to 4-15 overall and 2-6 in the NAC, while the Beavers improve to 17-3 on the season and 9-0 in the NAC. Maine Maritime returns to action on Wednesday night when they host UMaine-Presque Isle for a NAC matchup at 7:30 pm.
