Mariners Shatter Records at NEISDA Championship en Route to Sixth Place Finish

KINGSTON, R.I. -- Maine Maritime Academy men's swimming finished sixth out of 14 teams, with a team score of 366 at the four-day New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association (NEISDA) Championship held on the campus of the University of Rhode Island. 

Roger Williams took home the championship with a team score of 1,041, while Keene State (588) and Norwich (540) rounded out the top three teams.

  • Isaac Weaver (Lamoine, Maine) placed fifth in the 50 yard breaststroke with a time of 27.54, setting a new school record in the event, just ahead of teammate Liam Naturale (Dingman's Ferry, Pa.) in eighth with a time of 28.93
  • Roberts finished fifth in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:05.27, improving one spot on his prelim time and breaking his previous school record
  • Jack Valleau (Liberty, Maine) placed 10th in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 22.38, setting a new school record
  • McEneaney and Markillie finished back-to-back in seventh and eighth places respectively in the 200 yard IM, McEneaney swam a time of 2:08.42 to set a new school record, while Markillie had a time of 2:09.45
  • The relay team of Roberts, Weavers, Egger and Edward David (Englewood, Fla.) set a new school record and placed sixth in the 400 Yard Medley with a time of 3:42.87
  • Markillie set a school record in the prelims of the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 54.99

Saturday, February 15: PRELIM RESULTS | FINAL RESULTS

  • The relay team of Roberts, Weaver, Markillie and Valleau finished sixth in the 200 Yard Medley, setting a new school record, with a time of 1:41.75
  • Egger placed eighth in the 400 yard IM with a time of 4:30.11, to set a new school record
  • Valleau finished 10th in the 50 yard butterfly with a time of 25.19, and set a new school record in the prelims with a 25.03
  • Markillie placed sixth and set a new school record in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:49.16, ahead of McEneaney in seventh with a time of 1:50.17
  • Weaver finished seventh in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:01.95 to set a new school record, while Naturale placed 10th with a time of 1:03.62
  • The relay team of Valleau, David, Brad Tibbetts (Boothbay Harbor, Maine) and McEneaney placed seventh and set a school record in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:32.48

Sunday, February 16: PRELIM RESULTS | FINAL RESULTS

  • Roberts placed sixth in the 50 yard backstroke with a time of 26.17
  • McEneaney set a school record in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:21.47 to finish seventh overall, just ahead of teammates Weaver in seventh with a time of 2:21.54 and Naturale placed 10th in the event with a time of 2:24.06
  • Egger finished fifth in the 200 yard butterfly, setting a new school record with a time of 2:02.94
  • The relay team of Valleau, David, Egger and Markillie placed fifth in the 400 yard freestyle with a time of 3:19.76, setting a new school record
