Mariners Stumble Against Hornets

LYNDONVILLE, Vt. – Maine Maritime Academy men's basketball fell to Northern Vermont University-Lyndon, 107-73 on Saturday afternoon in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action inside of Stannard Gymnasium.

How it Happened: The Hornets outscored the Mariners 28-12 in the final nine minutes of the first half to take a 50-27 lead into halftime and never looked back on their way to the victory.

Inside the Numbers: Andrew Liebert (Plano, Texas) led the Mariners with 13 points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals, while Kimani Anderson (Houston, Texas) added 12 points, three rebounds, three assists and a steal.

Zach Falkenburg tallied a game-high 18 points to lead the Hornets, while also adding five rebounds, three steals and two assists, while Kyle Cary, Tyrese Harris and Peyton Olsen each contributed 15 points, and Damon Denteh chipped in with 10 points.

Maine Maritime shot 44.4 percent from the floor and 23.5 percent from three-point land, while the Hornets shot 50.7 percent overall and 37.5 percent from beyond the arc. The Hornets maintained a 44-28 advantage in rebounds.

Up Next: The Mariners fall to 4-17 overall and 2-8 in the NAC, while the Hornets improve to 5-16 on the season and 2-8 in the conference. Maine Maritime returns to action tomorrow, at NVU-Johnson at 2:00 pm.
