Box Score CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime women's volleyball beat Colby College 3-1 (22-25, 25-16, 25-21, 25-23) in a non-conference matchup on senior night.
How it Happened: The Mules used a four-point run to take the first set from the Mariners, 25-22. The Mariners answered in commanding fashion, using their quick offense to outscore the Mules, 25-16. The third set proved to be more competitive, back-and-forth action. Maine Maritime came out on top, totaling 15 kills as a team to win the set, 25-21. The fourth set was full of runs from both teams, with the Mariners claiming the thrilling match victory, three sets to one over the Mules.
Inside the Numbers: Rachel Melampy (Marshfield, Mass.) led the Mariners with a game-high 17 kills, 13 digs, three assists, and 1 ace. Katie Albritton (Hutto, Texas) totaled a game-high 44 assists, nine digs, four aces, one block, and one kill, while Sydney Rich (Williamsburg, Va.) chipped in a game-high 24 digs, four aces, and one assist.
Hanah Wyllie led the Mules with 9 kills, two digs, two aces, and two blocks, while teammate Morgan Selby totaled 15 assists, four kills, and one block.
Up Next: The Mariners improve to 16-6 overall, while Colby falls to 10-10 overall. Maine Maritime returns to action on Saturday when they host the NAC Women's Volleyball Championship tournament. As the top-seed, the Mariners will face UMaine-Presque Isle on Saturday, October 30 at 1:00pm. Quarterfinal games will be held on Saturday, October 30 and Semifinal games will be held on Sunday, October 31 in Smith Gym.
