Mariners Fall To Gordon

WENHAM, Mass. – Maine Maritime Academy women's soccer fell 3-0 to Gordon College on Wednesday evening in non-conference action.

How it Happened: After a scoreless first 26 minutes, Gordon's Sofia Gish put the Scots up 1-0 off a corner kick from Sarah Sierzenga, which held through halftime.

Sierzenga added a goal of her own in the 58th minute to extend the lead to 2-0 and Kristi Di Rico added a late goal in the 82nd minute from Sabbie Kenney to give the Scots a 3-0 win.

Inside the Numbers: Bess MacArthur (Castine, Maine) made six saves in net for the Mariners, while Karinne Walther made three saves for Gordon. The Scots held a 15-3 advantage in shots and a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks. 

Up Next: Maine Maritime falls to 6-4 overall, while the Scots improve to 8-2 on the season. Maine Maritime returns to action on Saturday, October 9 when they host SUNY Delhi in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) match up on Ritchie Field at 12:00pm.
