Box Score CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Maine Maritime men's basketball fell to Lesley University, 79-73 Friday night in a non-conference matchup.
How it Happened: After a closely played seven minutes, the Lynx went on a 19-3 run to build a 32-16 lead with 5:51 to play in the half. The Mariners began to cut down Lesley's lead to make the score 40-28 going into the half.
The Mariners kept the pressure on the Lynx, cutting the lead down to five points after Markus Ramirez (Colorado Springs, Colo.) splashed a three-pointer to make the score 71-66. The game continued to be close, with the Mariners getting within two points of the Lynx with 00:35 seconds left in the game. Lesley scored four straight points off of free throws to close out the game 79-73.
Inside the Numbers: Ramirez came off the bench for the Mariners, scoring a team-high 20 points, along with four assists and two rebounds. Cameron Gerlach (Hendersonville, Tenn.) recorded a double-double, scoring 19 points, shooting 60%, and grabbing 11 rebounds. Malachi Reincke (Houston, Texas) chipped in 18 points, seven rebounds, two assists, and one steal, while Carter Rubin (Littleon, Colo.) added 13 points, two rebounds, two assists.
