Mariners Fall in First Round of NCAA Playoffs

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Maine Maritime women's soccer fell to MIT, 4-0 on Saturday morning in the first round of the NCAA Dlll Women's Soccer Tournament.

How it Happened: After a scoreless 35 minutes of play, Natalie Barnouw found the back of the net for the Engineers off a loose ball to take a 1-0 lead against the Mariners going into halftime. MIT scored three more goals in the second half to claim a 4-0 win over the Mariners. With this loss the Mariners conclude their season with a 11-7 record, while MIT improves to 20-1-1 and advance to the second round of the NCAA tournament.

Inside the Numbers: MIT held a 19-0 advantage in shots and a 11-0 advantage in corner kicks. Bess MacArthur (Castine, Maine) tallied seven saves for the Mariners and Ava Gillikin got the win for MIT going untested in net.
