Box Score BOSTON, Mass – Maine Maritime women's basketball beat Wentworth, 71-42 Tuesday night in a non-conference matchup.
How it Happened: Lauren Plissey (Hermon, Maine) started off the scoring for the Mariners with a layup from Makenzie Monzon (Orlando, Fla) to spark a 12-0 run in the first quarter. The Mariners kept the pressure on the Leopards, building their lead to 32-10, until the Leopards made a run of their own, scoring 17 unanswered points to bring the score to 36-27 at halftime.
Maine Maritime started the second half with an eight point run, slowly pulling away from the Leopards. The Mariners continued to build the lead into the fourth quarter, claiming a 71-42 victory over Wentworth.
Inside the Numbers: Plissey helped lead the Mariners with 13 points, seven rebounds, three assists, two steals, and two blocks. Erianna Moore (Fitchburg, Mass.) tallied a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds, in addition to two assists, one steal, and one block. Monzon chipped in 12 points, four assists, and one steal.
Nattaly David came off the bench for Wentworth recording a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds, along with four assists, while Kayla Kelley added eight points to the mix, in addition to two steals and on assist.
The Mariners shot 45.6% from the floor and 31.6% from beyond the arc, while Wentworth shot 22.4% from the hardwood and 28.6% from three point land.
Up Next: Maine Maritime improves to 4-1 overall, while Wentworth falls to 0-4. The Mariners return to action on Friday, November 19 at 6:00pm when they host UMaine-Fort Kent in a non-conference matchup.
