Box Score CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime men's basketball fell to Plymouth State University, 86-60 Thursday night in a non-conference matchup.
How it Happened: The Panthers started the game on a 22-10 run until Markus Ramirez (Colorado Springs, Colo.) splashed a three pointer with 11:17 remaining in the first half. Plymouth State continued to hold onto their lead throughout the remainder of the first half, going into intermission with a 44-27 lead over the Mariners.
The Mariners went on a 11-point run in the second half when Carter Rubin (Littleton, Colo.) nailed three shoots in-a-row beyond the arc to make the score 53-44 with 13:46 left on the clock. The Panthers answered with a nine-point run of their own and holding their advantage over the Mariners to claim a 86-60 win.
Inside the Numbers: Ramirez led the Mariners with a game-high 17 points. Cameron Gerlach (Hendersonville, Tenn.) added a double-double with 11 points and 10 assists, along with three rebounds and two blocks. Curt Heinz (Stuttgart, Germany) came off the bench for the Mariners, adding 11 points, five rebounds, and one steal.
Devin Cooper and Manny Alisandro both tallied a double-double for the Panthers. Cooper had 15 points and 14 rebounds, while Alisandro recorded 15 points and 16 rebounds.
The Mariners shot 35.8% from the floor and 22.6% from the arc, while the Panthers shot 45.5% from the floor and 36.4% from three point land.
