Moore and Plissey lead Mariners Past Beavers

CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime women's basketball beat UMaine-Farmington, 78-35 on Saturday afternoon in a North Atlantic Conference matchup.

How it Happened: The Mariners dominated the first quarter, outscoring the Beavers 35-8 and never looked back. The second quarter proved to be very similar, with the Mariners taking a 46-29 lead at halftime.

The Mariners continued to hold their advantage over the Beavers in the second half, claiming a 78-35 victory.

Inside the Numbers: Erianna Moore (Fitchburg, Mass.) recorded a double-double with a career-high and game-high 18 points and 11 rebounds, in addition to 3 assists, two steals, and one block. Lauren Plissey (Hermon, Maine) also tallied a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds, along with four blocks, three assists, and one steal. Lauren Cook (Charlotte, Maine) chipped in 15 points, five rebounds, and one assist.

Tia Day led the Beavers with ten points and two rebounds, Alex Bessey and Page Brown both chipped in six points each.

The Mariners shot 40.9% from the hardwood and 45% from beyond the arc, while UMaine-Farmington shot 15.8% from the floor and 19.4% from three point land.

Up Next: The Mariners improve to 7-2 overall and 2-0 in conference, while UMaine-Farmington falls to 6-4 overall and 1-1 in conference. The Mariners take a break for the Holidays and will be back in action on Saturday, January 1 at 5:00pm against Rensselaer.
