WATERVILLE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy men's swimming and diving competed at the Maine State Collegiate Meet in the Aquatics Center at the Harold Alfond Athletics and Recreation Center, hosted by Colby College. The Mariners placed fifth out of seven teams in the two-day event, setting five new school records.
Friday Highlights
- Relay team of Carson Trout (League City, Texas), John Markillie (Richland, Wash.), John Beres (Seattle, Wash.), and Jace Chouinard (North Fort Myers, Fla.) placed 15th in the 200 free relay, setting a new school record, with a time of 1:32.06
- Lincoln Graf (Searsmont, Maine) finished 21st in the 500 free with a time of 5:24.28 and teammate Aidan Walls (LaGrange, Ill.) finished 22nd with a time of 5:24.28
- Ryan Maher (St. Helens, Ore.) placed 24th in the 50 fly with a time of 24.95, setting a new school record
- Walls placed 24th in the 50 breast with a time of 33.67
- Markillie placed 21st in the 200 IM, setting a new school record, with a time of 2:03.26
- Cameron Sprott (Hampton, Va.) placed 16th in the 50 back with a time of 26.52 and Graf finished 18th with a time of 28.75
- Trout placed 29th in the 50 free with a time of 22.72
Saturday Highlights
- Relay team of Sprott, Saltysiak, Markillie and Trout finished 16th in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:44.90, while team of Graf, Beres, Maher, and Chouinard placed 17th with a time of 1:47.32
- Markillie finished 17th in the 400 IM with a time of 4:30.84
- Maher placed 24th in the 100 fly with a time of 57.80
- Chouinard finished 27th in the 200 free with a time of 1:52.34, while teammate Markillie placed 28th with a time of 1:52.79
- Saltysiak placed 21st in the 100 breast with a time of 1:07.66, while Erb placed 24th with a time of 1:10.40
- Sprott placed 21st in the 100 back with a time of 57.53, while Trout placed 23rd with a time of 59.89
- Markillie finished 14th in the 200 back, setting a new school record, with a time of 2:03.37
- Trout finished 31st in the 100 free with a time of 50.36
- Saltysiak finished 14th in the 200 breast with a time of 2:27.51 and Beres placed 15th with a time of 2:28.28
- Carson placed 20th in the 200 fly with a time of 2:33.46
- Markillie finished 27th in the 100 IM with a time of 57.67, setting a new school record
- Relay team of Chouinard, Markillie, Maher and Trout placed 13th in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:21.22
