Box Score WATERVILLE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy women's basketball cruised to a 63-35 win over Thomas College on Saturday afternoon inside of Mahaney Gymnasium.
How it Happened: The Mariners held the Terriers to just five points in the first quarter to take a nine-point lead after the opening 10 minutes. The Terriers narrowly outscored the Mariners 13-12 in the second, sending Maine Maritime into halftime with a 26-18 advantage.
Maine Maritime built a double-digit lead in the third quarter and held Thomas to five points again in the fourth quarter to take the 63-35 win.
Inside the Numbers: Kali Barber (Tampa, Fla.) led the Mariners with a game-high 16 points, including going 10-of-11 from the line, and added five rebounds, five steals, and three assists. Samantha Mason (Lamoine, Maine) contributed 12 points, seven rebounds, seven steals, and an assist while Makenzie Monzon (Orlando, Fla.) chipped in with 10 points, four rebounds, three steals, two assists and two blocks.
Alydia Brillant led the Terriers with 14 points, eight rebounds, an assist, a steal and a block.
The Mariners shot 33.3 percent from the floor and 15.0 percent from three, while the Terriers shot 23.7 percent overall and 13.3 percent from beyond the arc. The Mariners held a 47-42 edge in rebounds.
Up Next: The Mariners improve to 3-0 on the season and will wrap up competition next Saturday, March 13, against Husson at 4:00 pm at home.
