CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime women's soccer picked up an impressive 5-1 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) win over the University of Maine at Presque Isle on Saturday afternoon at Ritchie Field.

How it Happened: After a scoreless first 15 minutes, Jillian Holden (Madison, Maine) got the Mariners on the board when she beat UMPI's Savannah Rodriguez. Kelsey Bern (Castle Rock, Wash.) extended the lead to 2-0 in the 23rd minute off an assist from Margot Simeon (Findlay, Ohio). UMPI's Rhylee Kinney cut the Mariners lead in half in the 43rd minute when she struck one past Bess MacArthur (Castine, Maine). Maine Maritime carried a 2-1 lead into halftime.

Suzanne Wooldridge (Corona, Cali.) extended Maine Maritimes lead to 3-1 in the 52nd minute on a corner kick from MacKenzie Carter (Ashland, Maine). Carter added the final two goals in the 56th and 68th minute to push the Mariners' lead to 5-1.

Inside the Numbers: Maine Maritime held a strong 26-11 advantage in shots and 9-1 advantage in corner kicks. MacArthur tallied four saves in the victory for the Mariners, while Rodriguez made nine saves in the loss for the Owls.

Up Next: The Mariners improve to 2-2 on the season and 1-0 in the conference, while the Owls fall to 0-2 overall and 0-1 in the NAC. Maine Maritime returns to action on Sunday, September 12 when they host non-conference opponents Bowdoin College at 2:00pm on Ritchie Field.
