Box Score LEWISTON, Maine – Maine Maritime volleyball fell to Bates College 3-1 (25-22, 21-25, 25-23, 25-20) on Wednesday night in non-conference action.
How it Happened: The Bobcats won a competitive first set 22-25. The Mariners fought back in the second set to win by four led by Rachel Melampy (Marshfield, Mass.). The Bobcats responded by coming back from a large deficit in the third set to win 25-23 and won the fourth set 25-20 to secure the win over the Mariners.
Inside the Numbers: Melampy led the Mariners with a game-high 18 kills and 12 digs. Katie Albritton (Hutto, Texas) contributed a game-high 31 assists, seven digs, one kill, and a half a block.
Alyssa Lowther led the Bobcats with 13 kills, 10 digs, 2 blocks, and two aces, while teammate Emma Eide recorded 23 assists, 10 digs, three kills, two and half blocks, and one ace.
Up Next: Maine Maritime falls to 6-3 overall while Bates College improves to 2-5 overall. The Mariners return to action on Saturday, September 25 when they travel to Bowdoin College to face both Tufts University and the Polar Bears beginning at 3:30 pm in non-conference matchups.
