Cook-Sharp Leads Mariners at Maine State Championship

BANGOR, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy women's cross country finished ninth out of nine teams at the Maine State Cross Country Championships, hosted by Husson University.

How it Happened: Senior Milo Cook-Sharp (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) paced the Mariners, finishing 92nd out of 118 runners on the 5k course, with a time of 23:17.2. Graduate student Joanna Howard (Eliot, Maine) finished 98th, with a time of 23:59.8, while sophomore Erin Kinser (Cashmere, Wash.) finished just behind Howard in 99th, with a time of 23:59.1.

Junior Sarah Smith (Kirkland, Wash.) finished in 109th, with a time of 25:51.4 and junior Darby Cendoma (Livonia, N.Y.) rounded out the top five finishers for the Mariners, finishing 114th, with a time of 26:56.7.

Inside the Numbers: Bates College took home the top spot with a team score of 18 and total time of 1:31:40, Bowdoin College finished second with a team score of 67 and total time of 1:35:24, and Colby College finished third with a team score of 76 and total time of 1:36:04. Bates College's Jillian Richard finished first overall with a time of 17:48.0. Maine Maritime finished with a team score of 277 and total time of 2:04:02.

Up Next: Maine Maritime Academy returns to action on Saturday, October 15 when they travel to Springfield, Mass. to compete in the Western New England Invitational at 12:00pm.
