CASTINE, Maine – Mariners volleyball beat NVU-Lyndon in their North Atlantic Conference (NAC) opener Saturday afternoon. Maine Maritime hit over .500 as a team, with a total of 36 kills.

How it Happened: The Mariners jumped to a quick 8-0 run in the first set and never looked back. The second set started the same way, with the Mariners dominating to take a 2-0 lead going into the third set. The third set started off more competitive before the Mariners scored 15 unanswered points to secure a 3-0 win.

Inside the Numbers:
- The Mariners hit .526 as a team.
- Rachel Melampy (Duxbury, Mass.) tallied a double-double with game highs of 12 kills, on .579 hitting, and 11 digs.
- Katie Albritton (Hutto, Texas) recorded a game-high 20 assists, along with three kills and one ace.
- Calysta Lohman had five kills for the Hornets, while Saleena Porter tallied five assists and Charlotte Morris recorded eight digs.

Up Next: Maine Maritime improves to 10-2 overall and 1-0 in conference, while the Hornets fall to 0-14 overall and 0-1 in conference. The Mariners return to action tomorrow, October 2 at 12:00pm when they host NVU-Johnson in a conference matchup.
