Mariners Led by Cook-Sharp at the Western New England Invite

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Maine Maritime Academy women's cross country raced at the Western New England University Invitational on Saturday.

How it Happened: Senior Milo Cook-Sharp (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) paced the Mariners on the 6k course, finishing 46th in the 73-runner field, with a time of 28:57. Sophomore Erin Kinser (Cashmere, Wash.) placed 54th, with a time of 30:40.

Senior Sarah Smith (Kirkland, Wash.) placed 56th, with a time of 30:58 and first year Lillian Verrill (Dover-Foxcroft, Maine) rounded out the four runners for the Mariners, finishing 73rd overall, with a time of 42:12.

Inside the Numbers: Smith College took home the top team spot with a team score of 18, Framingham State finished second with a score of 60, and Salve Regina rounded out the top three teams with a score of 77. Smith College claimed the top four spots with Isabel Vivanoo crossing the finish line first, with a time of 23:39. The Mariners, with only four runners competing, did not score as a team.

Up Next: The Mariners return to action on Saturday, October 22 at 11:30am when they race at the Bowdoin Invitational in Brunswick, Maine.
