Mariners Fall in Semifinal Matchup

Box Score BANGOR, Maine -- #3 Maine Maritime women's soccer falls to #1 Husson University, 3-1 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) semifinal matchup on Sunday afternoon.
 
How it Happened: After a scoreless first half of action, the Eagles struck first in the 48th minute when Willow Whitten found the back of the net for a goal. Five minutes later, Husson scored again to make the score 2-0. Late in the second half, Emma White (New Sharon, Maine) scored off a penalty kick to put the Mariners on the board with a score of 2-1. With five minutes left in the match, Husson scored another insurance goal to claim the 3-1 victory.
 
Inside the Numbers:
  • The Eagles held a 29-4 advantage in shots and a 7-2 edge in corner kicks over the Mariners.
  • Bess MacArthur (Castine, Maine) played all 90 minutes in net for the Mariners, tallying six saves.
  • Madison Weigler recorded one save in net for the Eagles.
