CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime sailing competed at the Smith Trophy hosted by MIT last weekend.
 
How it Happened: Mariner sailors Nalu Ho (Lahaina, Hawaii), Margaret Archibald (Saco, Maine), Lochlann Ludwig (St. Mary's County, Md.), and Nicholas Paulu (Yarmouth, Maine) competed at the regatta. As well as learning to sail Tech Dinghies, the Mariners worked on finding clean air downwind and playing the shifts in typical light and shifty Charles River conditions. They put up consistent results against some of the toughest competition we've seen this season, including a third place finish in the A Division by Ho and Archibald. Overall, the Mariners finished 14th of 20 teams.
