BRUNSWICK, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy women's cross country raced at the 2022 NCAA DIII East Regional Championship, hosted by Bowdoin College, on Saturday morning, placing 34th out of 35 teams.
How it Happened: Senior
Milo Cook-Sharp (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) was the Mariners' top finisher, placing 174th in the 243-runner field, with a time of 28:28.5 on the 6k course. Graduate student
Joanna Howard (Eliot, Maine) placed 207th with a time of 30:23.9.
Senior
Sarah Smith (Kirkland, Wash.) finished 223rd with a time of 32:33.3. Junior
Darby Cendoma (Livonia, N.Y.) placed 36:34.8 and first-year
Lillian Verrill (Pittsfield, Maine) rounded out the top-five finishers for the Mariners, finishing 239th, with a time of 37:53.2.
Inside the Numbers: MIT claimed the top spot with a team score of 36 and total time of 1:53:06, Bates College placed second with a team score of 64 and total time of 1:53:42, and Brandeis College finished third with a team score of 142 and total time of 1:56:43. Bates' Jillian Richardson was the top medalist finishing with a time of 21:21.1, MIT's Anna Haddad placed second with a time of 22:25.0, and Wellesley's Claire Anderson finished third with a time of 22:28.0.
