Mariners Storm Past Nor'Easters

CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy men's swimming and diving cruised to a convincing 225-14 non-conference victory over the University of New England on Saturday afternoon in Bok Pool.
 
Meet Highlights
  • Relay team of Cameron Sprott (Hampton, Va.), Ponce Saltysiak (Bar Harbor, Maine), Jace Chouinard (North Fort Myers, Fla.), Carson Trout (League City, Texas) won the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 4:00.69
  • Fox Fernald (Portland, Maine) placed first overall in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:16.74, while teammate Oscar Gonzlalez (Cooper City, Fla.) placed second with a time of 2:35.18
  • Trout won the 200-yard free with a time of 1:55.16 and Jay Creegan (East Brunswick, N.J.) placed second with a time of 1:56.73
  • John Markillie (Richland, Wash.), Sprott, and John Gilpin (Portsmouth, R.I.)  finished first, second, and third respectively in the 50-yard backstroke with times of 27.19, 27.20, and 28.97
  • Aidan Burke (Virginia Beach, Va.) won the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 30.36, while teammate Griffin Erb (Bangor, Maine) finished second with a time of 32.06
  • Markillie finished first in the 100-yard fly with a time of 59.01 and Saltysiak placed second with a time of 1:00.93
  • Erb won the 50-yard free with a time of 24.20, while Fernald finished second with a time of 24.34
  • Chouinard placed first in the 100-yard free with a time of 50.63 and Ryan Maher (St. Helens, Ore.) finished second with a time of 53.58
  • Sprott won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:00.10 and Nicholas Been (Tacoma, Wash.) finished second with a time of 1:01.99
  • Burke and Saltysiak finished first and second respectively in the 100-yard breaststroke with times of 1:07.67 and 1:11.01
  • Creegan won the 500-yard free with a time of 5:17.46
  • Fernald placed first overall in the 50-yard fly with a time of 25.31 and Chouinard finished second with a time of 25.73
  • Maher won the 100-yard IM with a time of 1:03.43 and Burke placed second with a time of 1:04.78
  • Relay team of Trout, Erb, Sprott and Chouinard won the 200-yard free relay with a time of 1:34.03
Up Next: The Mariners return to action on Friday, December 2nd when they travel to Waterville, Maine to race in the Maine State Meet, hosted by Colby College.
