Mariners Defeat Bengals in Non-Conference Matchup

Box Score FORT KENT, Maine – Malachi Reincke (Houston, Texas) and Connor Tuerff (Hendersonville, Tenn.) lead the Mariners with 19 points each to a 73-67 victory over UMaine-Fort Kent in a non-conference matchup Tuesday evening.
 
How it Happened: The first half was extremely competitive with no team leading by more than three points, until four minutes left in the half when Reincke hit a layup to put the Mariners up by four. Tuerff then made back-to-back layups to extend the Maine Maritime lead by eight at halftime.
 
The Mariners came out firing in the second half, never losing their lead. The Bengals got close near the end regular, but Tuerff sunk four straight foul shots to put the game away and claim a 73-67 victory.
 
Inside the Numbers:
  • Reincke tallied 19 points, eight rebounds, one block, and one assist.
  • Tuerff recorded 19 points, five assists, three rebounds, and one block.
  • Curt Heinz (Stuttgart, Germany) had a double-double with 14 rebounds and 12 points, along with six assists, one steal, one block.
  • Carter Rubin (Littleton, Colo.) added 13 points to the mix.
  • Daniel Franz had a game-high 20 points, while Jordan Guerrero added 18 points for the Bengals.
  • Maine Maritime shot 49.1% from the hardwood and 41.7% from beyond the arc, while the Bengals shot 45% from the floor and 35% from three point land.
 
Up Next: Maine Maritime improves to 2-3 overall and the Bengals fall to 1-7 on the year. Maine Maritime returns to action on Saturday, December 3 at 3:00pm against Thomas College in their conference opener.
