Mariners Compete at Maine Collegiate Winter Invite

Waterville, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy men's swimming and diving competed at the Maine Collegiate Winter Invite on Friday and Saturday, finishing seventh of seven teams in the 45-event meet.  
 
Day One Highlights
  • Relay team of Carson Trout (League City, Texas), Jace Chouinard (North Fort Myers, Fla.), Fox Fernald (Portland, Maine), John Markillie (Richland, Wash.) finished 14th in the 200-yard free relay with a time of 1:29.24 and the team of Lincoln Graf (Searsmont, Maine), Jay Creegan (East Brunswick, N.J.), Griffin Erb (Bangor, Maine), and Ponce Saltysiak (Bar Harbor, Maine) finished 20th with a time of 1:35.66
  • Creegan finished 24th in the 500-yard free with time of 5:06.19
  • Aidan Burke (Virginia Beach, Va.) finished 25th in the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 28.67
  • Markillie finished 18th in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:04.56
  • Cameron Sprott (Hampton, Va.) finished 16th in the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 26.06 and Lincoln Graf finished 21st with a time 28.26
Day Two Highlights
  • Relay team of Sprott, Burke, Markillie, and Trout finished 15th in the 200-yard IM relay with a time of 1:40.37, while the team of Chouinard, Saltysiak, Ryan Maher (St. Helens, Ore.), and Fernald finished 20th with a time of 1:43.23
  • Saltysiak placed 23rd in the 40-yard IM with a time of 4:36.46
  • Markillie finished 21st in the 100-yard fly with a time of 54.12
  • Chouinard finished 17th in the 200-yard free with a time of 1:48.23
  • Burke placed 23rd in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:03.45
  • Markillie finished 24th in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 55.81
  • Creegan finished 16th in the 1650-yard free with a time of 17:50.89
  • Chouinard placed 10th in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:59.71 and Markillie finished 12th with a time of 2:01.49
  • Trout finished 22nd in the 100-yard free with a time of 48.57
  • Burke finished 15th in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:21.89 and Saltysiak finished 19th with a time of 2:26.19
  • Sawyer Carson (Belfast, Maine) finished 20th in the 200-yard fly with a time of 2:52.72
  • Relay team of Chouinard, Trout, Erb, and Markillie finished 13th in the 400-yard free relay with a time of 3:19.97 and the team of Fernald, Graf, Maher, and Creegan finished 21st with a time of 3:34.31
Up Next: The Mariners return to action on Saturday, January 14, when they travel to Biddeford, Maine to compete against the University of New England at 12:00pm.
