Box Score FARMINGTON, Maine – Maine Maritime men's basketball fell to UMaine-Farmington, 99-64 Saturday afternoon in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) matchup.
How it Happened: Everything was going right for the Beavers in the beginning of the game, scoring 31 points to the Mariners ten with 14 minutes left in the first half. The Mariners worked their way back within 20 points after Carter Rubin (Littleton, Colo.) hit a three pointer, making the score 44-24 with 5:47 left in the first. The two teams started trading baskets for the rest of the half, going into halftime with a score of 57-32 in favor of the Beavers.
After some back-and-forth action, Rubin hit another three to bring the Mariners within 20 again with 12:33 left in the game. The Mariners continued to fight their way back in the game but the Beavers had an answer for every run. UMaine-Farmington continued to hold their advantage over the Mariners, claiming a 99-64 win.
Inside the Numbers: Rubin led the Mariners with 18 points, five rebounds, three assists, and one steal. Malachi Reincke (Houston, Texas) added 12 points, three steals, two assists, and one rebound. Cameron Gerlach (Hendersonville, Tenn.) and Curt Heinz (Stuttgart, Germany) both chipped in seven points for the Mariners.
Terion Moss score 25 points, eight assists, four steals, and three rebounds. Zach Brown added 16 points, four rebounds, three assists, and two steals, while Jack Kane has 13 points, six rebounds, six blocks, one assist, and one steal.
The Mariners shot 40.3% from the floor and 36.4% from three point land, while the Beavers shot 55.6% from the hardwood and 31.3% from beyond the arc.
Up Next: Maine Maritime falls to 3-14 overall and 2-7 in conference, while the Beavers improve to 11-5 overall and 7-2 in conference. The Mariners return to action on Tuesday, February 8 at 7:00pm when they host UMaine-Augusta in a non-conference matchup.
