PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy women's cross country placed three runners inside the top-ten at the UMPI Invitational on Saturday afternoon, including a top-five finish by senior
Milo Cook-Sharp (Cape Elizabeth, Maine).
Cook-Sharp paced the Mariners on the 4k course finishing fifth overall with a time of 20:12.62. Senior
Sarah Smith (Kirkland, Wash.) placed eighth overall with a time of 22:25.31.
Graduate student
Joanna Howard (Eliot, Maine) placed ninth overall with a time of 22:33.76. Freshman
Lillian Verrill (Dover-Foxcroft, Maine) was the final Mariner to cross the finish line in her collegiate debut placing 17
th overall with a time of 29:40.55.
Thomas College claimed first placed overall with a total time of 1:39:09.27. The University of Maine at Presque Isle finished second with a time of 1:55:10.94. Thomas's Maria Protheroe was the top finisher with a time 17:52.15.
Up Next: The Mariners return to action next Saturday, September 10 when they travel to Biddeford, Maine to race in the University of New England Invitational, set for 10:45am.
