GORHAM, Maine – Senior
Rachel Melampy (Duxbury, Mass.) recorded 33 kills today to become the third mariners volleyball player to reach the 1,000 kill milestone as Maine Maritime completes the sweep of opening weekend against the University of New England (25-9, 22-25, 25-21, 25-22) and the University of Southern Maine (25-14, 25-11, 19-25, 25-16).

Mariners 3 – Nor'easters 1 (25-9, 22-25, 25-21, 25-22)
How it Happened: It was a match of runs for the Mariners and Nor'easters this afternoon. After some back-and-forth action in the first set, the Mariners scored 15 straight points under the serve of
Hunnie Zuber-Stephens (Lubbock, Texas) to win the set. The second set was more of the same, with the Nor'easters scoring five consecutive points to end the set and knot the match at 1-1. The Mariners outlasted the University of New England in the last two sets, taking a 4-1 victory.

Inside the Numbers:
- Melampy had a game-highs of 16 kills and 6 aces, along with 13 digs and two assists.
- Katie Albritton (Hutto, Texas) tallied a game-high 43 assists, five digs, three kills, two aces, and 1 block assist.
- Zuber-Stephens recorded a game-high 18 digs, six kills, five aces, one assist, and one block assist.
- Sydney Rich (Williamsburg, Va.) and Makenna Middleton (Peoria, Ill.) had 17 and 14 digs respectively to anchor the Mariners defensive.
- First-years, Sam Urch (Duck, N.C.) and Ila Smith (Lexington, Ky.) made a huge impact in the middle for the Mariners tallying nine and seven kills respectively.
- Lauren Davenport tallied nine kills, while Addie Miller recorded 22 assists for the Nor'easters.

Mariners 3 – Huskies 1 (25-14, 25-11, 19-25, 25-16)
How it Happened: The Mariners dominated the first two sets against the Huskies, winning by double-digits in each. In the third set, the Huskies went on two important runs to outlast Maine Maritime, sending the match to set four. The fourth set was tight before the Mariners went on a five-point run to create some separation from the Huskies and eventually winning the match.

- Melampy and Smith led the Mariners offense with a game-high 17 (on .531 hitting) and 13 (on .526 hitting) kills respectively.
- Albritton dished out a game-high 33 assists, 10 digs, and two aces.
- Rich recorded a game-high 14 digs, along with two assists, two aces, and one kill.
- Riley Sullivan (Wilmington, Del.) had a team-high four aces, six kills, and five digs.
- Brianna Delloiacono, Sophia Biggie, and Isabella Smith all had five kills each for the Huskies, while Savannah Hunter tallied 18 assists on the afternoon.
Notables:
- Melampy joins Gillian O'Neal '16 (1445) and Katie Clapham '06 (1007) in reaching 1,000 career kills at Maine Maritime. Â
