Heinz Records Triple-Double in Loss to Owls

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – Maine Maritime men's basketball fell to UMaine-Presque Isle, 84-72 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) matchup on Saturday afternoon. Curt Heinz (Stuttgart, Germany) recorded his first career triple-double with 17 points, 15 rebounds, and 11 assists for the Mariners.
 
 
How it Happened: The Mariners came out strong in the first half, a quick nine point lead in the first five minutes of action. They continued building on their lead throughout the first half, taking a 42-32 lead going into halftime.
 
To start the second half, the Mariners brought their lead up to 13 before the Owls started to chip away at Maine Maritime. UMaine-Presque Isle took the lead with eight minutes to go and never looked back. The Owls eventually claimed an 84-72 win.


Inside the Numbers:
  • Heinz recorded his first career triple-double with 17 points, 15 rebounds, and 11 assists for the Mariners.
  • Josiah Dancy (Orlando, Fla.) also had 17 points, with four rebounds, five assists, and three steals.
  • Carter Rubin (Littleton, Colo.) Had 10 points coming off the bench.
  • Griffin Guerrette tallied a game-high 22 points, while Dany Harris added 20 points off the bench for the Owls.
  • Maine Maritime shot 50.9% from the floor and 31.8% from the three point line, while the Owls shot 46.9% from the hardwood and 16.7% from three point land.
 
Up Next: Maine Maritime falls to 7-9 overall and 3-4 in NAC play, while the Owls improve to 4-10 on the year and 2-4 in conference action. The Mariners return to action tomorrow against the Owls again at 1:00pm.
